We saw in practise with pediatric cases that there are so many questions that we were not able to answer. For e.g., One of our patient’s 8-year-old daughter refused to go to school just out of the fear that the teacher would scold other children. We definitely try and treat them with medication but at some point we found some limitations in tackling some problems.
Every year as we have one patient awareness seminar, we thought of having special workshops for parents just focusing on Parenting and how to deal with the various issues faced by them.
We recently started with such workshops for a very small group of parents with children between the age group of 6-12 with a discussion with Dr.Pervin Dadachanji who is a very well known psychiatrist. And there are so many issues with children which can be tackled with just plain talking and with a little change in the parents approach towards them. We plan to continue with such workshops for different age groups or for a group of parents facing a similar problems eg. Children with hyperactivity or some emotional problems like fears…
